Oral ED Medications — Sildenafil and Tadalafil

< 1 min read

PrescribedRX provides clinician-supervised prescriptions for oral PDE5 inhibitors, the most commonly used and well-researched class of ED medications.

Available Medications #

  • Sildenafil (generic Viagra)
  • Tadalafil (generic Cialis)

How They Work #

PDE5 inhibitors relax the smooth muscle tissue in the penis, allowing increased blood flow during sexual stimulation. They do not cause an automatic erection — sexual stimulation is required.

How to Take Them #

  • Take 30–60 minutes before sexual activity
  • Tadalafil at a low daily dose (2.5–5 mg) may be taken every day instead of on-demand, providing continuous readiness

Important Safety Information #

  • Do not combine with nitrate medications (e.g., nitroglycerin for heart conditions). This combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
  • Alpha Blocker medications (often used for blood pressure or prostate issues) should not be combined with PDE5 inhibitors without explicit guidance from your provider.
  • If you are unsure whether your current medications interact, message your clinician through the portal before taking.
