Self-injecting testosterone at home is safe and straightforward when done correctly. Follow these steps every time you administer your dose.
What You’ll Need #
- Your testosterone vial
- A 25–30 gauge, ½” syringe/needle
- Alcohol swabs
- Sharps disposal container
- A bandage or gauze pad
Step-by-Step Injection Instructions #
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching any supplies.
- Gather your supplies: vial, syringe, alcohol swabs, and sharps container.
- Prep the vial: Wipe the top of the vial with a fresh alcohol swab. Draw your prescribed dose into the syringe and remove any air bubbles.
- Choose your injection site: Use the abdomen (at least 2 inches from your navel), outer thigh, or upper buttock. Rotate sites each time.
- Clean the site: Wipe the chosen area with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry for a few seconds.
- Inject: Pinch the skin gently, insert the needle at a 45–90° angle, and inject slowly and steadily.
- Withdraw: Remove the needle at the same angle it was inserted. Apply gentle pressure with a gauze pad. Do not massage the area.
- Dispose: Immediately place the used needle in your sharps container. Never recap or leave loose needles unattended.
- Rest: Avoid strenuous physical activity at the injection site for at least 30 minutes after injecting.
📌 Rotating injection sites every time is essential to prevent scar tissue, lumps, and uneven absorption.
